WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Several organizations set up displays at the top floor of Cape Fear Community College’s Union Station for a Juneteenth event on Tuesday, June 18.

The Black Progressive Action Coalition set up a voter education booth, and the NAACP was there as well.

The event was an opportunity to get the word out about Juneteenth and showcase local Black-owned businesses.

The Coalition has had a long presence in other parts of North Carolina and is now establishing itself here along the coast

This event is one of many for people who want to commemorate Juneteenth and learn more about its history
