PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The NAACP Berkshire County Branch is hosting its annual Juneteenth Celebration on Sunday in Pittsfield.

During the celebration, there will be a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, a Freedom Walk from City Hall to Durant Park, and a Community Worship Service. There will also be food trucks, vendors, and the reading of the Juneteenth Proclamation.

The entertainment for the event includes a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament fundraiser, performances by rapper and musician Mari Flave, African dance with Noel Freeman, local rock band Sample the Cat, and singer/songwriter Wanda Houston. 

A bouncy house, games, crafts with TG’s Clubhouse, face painting, and story time with Dr. Alana Harte will be available for kids in attendance. Free ice cream will also be made available to the first two hundred people. The celebration will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, according to NAACP Berkshire County.
