The Fremont NAACP Unit 3217B will celebrate Juneteenth with several events starting Wednesday.
The main celebration will be June 22 from noon to 4 p.m. in Birchard Park. The Juneteenth event will include music, food, family fun, a bounce house, car show, games vendors and more.
The first event for the week will be a Wednesday lunch-and-learn at the Sandusky County YMCA, 1000 North St. There will be a discussion from several local Black leaders about Reconstruction and 1865.

Scavenger hunt will begin at library
On Thursday, the NAACP will host a scavenger hunt from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Birchard Library that will end at the Rutherford B. Hayes Center and highlight Black history. It will be followed by “What Juneteenth Means to You” from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Spiegel Grove and the Hayes center. Youth art will be shared.

On Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., the NAACP will hold a tribute to the Negro Leagues with a baseball game at Roger Young Park and Heinz Field on South Front Street.

Community Church service to wrap up events
The week wraps up with a community worship service June 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fremont Amphitheater and Park, at Arch Street and Birchard Ave.
