JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson native brings home a national honor.

MaKenzie Winters has been named as the national Miss Juneteenth USA.

Representing the State of Tennessee, Winters was crowned on October 12. She also placed second in talent and was voted by contestants as Miss Congeniality.

Winters is a Senior at Jackson Central-Merry Early College High with dual enrollment status at Jackson State Community College.

Winters, who is a JCM cheerleader and four-time UCA All American cheerleader, is also a member of the National Honor Society, principal performing member of Ballet Arts of Jackson, and an Ambassador with the Jackson Symphony League.

Along with her accomplishments, Winters is also involved with student teaching at Pat Brown School of Dance, and contributes to the Youth Choir and Youth Ministry as a member of New St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
