CARTERVILLE, Ill. (KFVS) – John A. Logan College is hosting a Juneteenth Celebration on Tuesday, June 18.

The celebration begins at 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. at the Waterfall Courtyard on campus.

Organizers say it will feature a variety of activities and entertainment, including local food, live entertainment, art, games, dancing, storytelling and poetry.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, tents and picnic blankets.

The celebration is free and open to the public.

“It’s an opportunity for our community to come together, reflect on our history, and celebrate our progress,” said JALC President Dr. Kirk Overstreet in a released statement. “We invite everyone to join us for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship.”

This is the college’s third Juneteenth celebration.
