LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – It was the Father’s Day Jazz Night in REO Town on Sunday to celebrate the closing to the Juneteenth weekend.
It was the fourth year of hosting Juneteenth events, which helped bring spirit, culture and unity alive for the weekend. Festivities began on Thursday and lasted through the weekend. One organizer, Anyaha Brewer, said this Father’s Day event was the perfect way to end the weekend.
“I think the most important thing is that we’re recognizing the fathers who have just been very impactful in their children’s life, and we just want to make sure that we take this day to celebrate them and acknowledge them for all that they’ve done in our lives,” said Brewer. “So, we had to take this moment to celebrate them throughout the celebration of this four-day weekend.”
