
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The celebrations are just getting started for Juneteenth today and you can join the celebration by attending some of the events in Baton Rouge, surrounding areas.
Juneteenth Community Celebration in Denham Springs
Camp Empowerment and the West Livingston Advisory Committee are hosting the annual Juneteenth Community Celebration in Denham Springs on Wednesday, June 19. The event starts at 1 p.m. at the PARDS L.M. Lockhart Park Gym, 320 Martin Luther King Dr. in Denham Springs.
Attendees can look forward to a day full of inspiring speeches, lively performances, and engaging presentations. The event will even be awarding scholarships to some deserving students.
The Livingston Parish Ministers Alliance will be holding a Juneteenth Parade to celebrate freedom on Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Denham Springs. The parade starts at 1 p.m. and travels from Denham Springs High School, down Range Avenue, to Veterans Boulevard.
Unity Fest
The City of Baton Rouge is celebrating Juneteenth by hosting Unity Fest from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19. The event, which is the end of a weeklong celebration, takes place at the Main Library at Goodwood. The address is 7711 Goodwood Boulevard. There will be live performances, food, and more.

Southern University ‘Meet the Entrepreneur’
The John B. Cade Library at Southern University and A&M College is celebrating Juneteenth with its “Meet the Entrepreneur” series on Wednesday, June 19. The free event is happening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library’s Patent and Trademark Resource Center on the first floor. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local business owners and get advice from officials with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
