Although Juneteenth is officially celebrated next Wednesday, Corsicana residents have decided to start the fun early this weekend with a series of events highlighting the holiday.

Navarro County’s Second Annual Juneteenth Festival started on Friday, and continues 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Bunert Park, located at 201 Bunert Park Rd.

The celebration of culture event features a car show, a movie night for kids, a DJ, food vendors, and a parade starting at 10 a.m., located at 1101 N Business 45 (the old hat factory).

The Juneteenth Car Show takes place at 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, located at 201 Bunert Park Rd. $20 for first entry, $10 after. Judging takes place at 6 p.m. in the following categories: Best of Show, Best Motor, Best Interior, Best Paint, People Choice, Best Motorcycle (Top 15 Entries).

Single Believers Ministries presents the 16th annual Juneteenth Freedom Day taking place at 6p.m. On Saturday, June 15 in Bunert Park, located at 201 Bunert Park Rd.

The event features Chuck and the Guiding Clouds with an opening act by Jerrel Forbes.
