Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It serves as a reminder of our nation’s journey toward equality and freedom for all. This year’s events aim to celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of the Black community while fostering unity and education among all residents of our great state.
The Juneteenth Jubilee events in Springfield will also feature the Juneteenth Jubilee Adult Day Block Party on Friday June 14th outside of Level 5 Restaurant on the corner of State and Andrew Street from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
