Juneteenth National Independence Day on June 19, 2025, is a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

It was declared by the 117th U.S. Congress in 2021 as the first new holiday since Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was approved in 1983. West Virginia Governor Jim Justice proclaimed it as a state holiday in 2024.
