LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Organizations and businesses from around Lincoln came together for the neighborhood Juneteenth Celebration at Woods Park on Saturday.
The event, typically hosted a The Malone Center, was moved to the park due to renovations and remodeling at the facility. John Goodwin, CEO of the Malone Center, said it was a perfect opportunity to create a bigger experience for the people in the community.
Visitors enjoyed free food and entertainment. They also received information from over 50 vendors, from Lincoln Public Schools and the Malone Center to the MLK Youth Rally and YWCA-Lincoln.
The free community event also hosted games, and competitions like tug of war and had jumping castles for children.
Goodwin, however, said he believes it was the nice weather and good music that brought the community together in a special way.
“It’s nice for a community, all of us to get together and just have a good time and just celebrate,” said Goodwin.
