MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Monroe held their 19th annual parade Saturday morning. Floats, trucks and fire responders kicked off the parade at Wossman High School and ended at Bernstein Park where celebrations continued.
Monroe resident Ladarrius Standifer told KNOE he attends the parade every year. He said the festivities are great a way of showing how far America has grown.
“I think that being a part of the Juneteenth celebrations, celebrating our freedom is a great way to express how far we’ve come as a community, from slavery and to nowadays, where we have more rights. As a citizen I love to support our community and the city of Monroe.”
Monroe is not the only place in the Ark-La-Miss hosting Juneteenth events. Ruston, Grambling, and Winnsboro also will have Juneteenth celebrations Saturday night.
