BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – There are multiple Juneteenth events taking place throughout the Baton Rouge area on Saturday, June 15.
Below is a list of events that are planned:
Baton Rouge:
- The annual Juneteenth celebration presented by Rep. C. Denise Marcelle is taking place between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Gus Young Park. The park is located at 4200 Gus Young Avenue.
- The Zion City Family Fun Day is taking place between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Cadillac Street Park. The park is located at 6117 Cadillac Street.
- A Celebration of Fatherhood by Fathers on a Mission is taking place between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Greater New Guide Family Center. The center is located at 3328 Adams Avenue.
- Justin Garner will perform as part of the Levitt AMP BR Music Series. The performance will take place between 5 p.m. at 8 p.m. at the Scotlandville Plaza. The plaza is located at 8551 Scotland Avenue.
- There will be a Juneteenth Celebration with the Michael Foster Project event at 8 p.m. at Chelsea’s Live. The venue is located at 1010 Nicholson Drive.
Donaldsonville:
- The Donaldsonville Juneteenth Music Fest will take place between 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Louisiana Square. The square is located at the 300 block of Railroad Avenue. Events include the opening ceremony at 11 a.m., Wanda August from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Red Tape Musiq between 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., Total Control Band between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., Michael Foster Project between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and Royal Essence between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Grosse Tete:
- The Inaugural Grosse Tete Juneteenth Celebration will be held. A parade will begin at 12 p.m. at Locust Street along the railroad track.
