NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Department of Transportation held the Juneteenth Freedom Day Ride on Saturday at Frankie Pierce Park.
People met at about 7 a.m. and started riding at 7:45 a.m.
At the ride, people were given, T-shirts, snacks, and drinks and were eligible for giveaways.
People had the option to participate in one of two routes, the 25-mile marked route or the 10-mile group/family ride.
At the event, people also got to learn about VisionZero and NashConnector.
VisionZero is a campaign that helps communities set and reach the goal of “vision zero, ” eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries among all road users.
In 2022, the city of Nashville became a VisionZero city after Metro Council and former Mayor John Cooper adopted the Vision Zero Action Plan and Implementation Plan in August of that year.
NashConnector is a hub for employers and employees in the Nashville area to “plan a better commute.” For more information, click here.
