NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Department of Transportation held the Juneteenth Freedom Day Ride on Saturday at Frankie Pierce Park.

People met at about 7 a.m. and started riding at 7:45 a.m.

At the ride, people were given, T-shirts, snacks, and drinks and were eligible for giveaways.

People had the option to participate in one of two routes, the 25-mile marked route or the 10-mile group/family ride.

At the event, people also got to learn about VisionZero and NashConnector.

VisionZero is a campaign that helps communities set and reach the goal of “vision zero, ” eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries among all road users.

In 2022, the city of Nashville became a VisionZero city after Metro Council and former Mayor John Cooper adopted the Vision Zero Action Plan and Implementation Plan in August of that year.

NashConnector is a hub for employers and employees in the Nashville area to “plan a better commute.” For more information, click here.
