National POW/MIA Recognition Day will be observed on the Marshall Square at 10 a.m. Friday, September 20.
The service will be held on the east side of the square, with Ralph Varner being chosen as the guest speaker.
POW/MIA Recognition Day is commemorated on the third Friday of every September, with the purpose of honoring those who were held captive and returned, as well as those who remain missing. The POW/MIA Memorial on the Marshall Square honors 15 POW’s and 6 veterans who are still MIA.
