Rekindle held its first Juneteenth brunch with about 75 community members, including 27 past Rekindle fellows, attending.

The program included African music, dance and storytelling provided by Djapo Cultural Arts, African and soul food provided by edwins too and Yum Village, and discussions by Jon Steiger and Harriette Watford Lowenthal on the connection between the African-American and Jewish experience.

Rekindle’s mission is to create meaningful social change by bringing emerging leaders from the Black and Jewish communities together for thoughtful and challenging dialogue, face-to-face interactions, breaking down barriers, building new relationships and collective action, according to its website.
