
Rochester, N.Y. — The City of Rochester’s Black Heritage Committee is hosting a series of events to commemorate Black History Month.
It will kick off Wednesday with a gospel concert performed by the School of the Arts choir.

The final event is a Juneteenth block party June 18.
The schedule of events includes:
- Wednesday, Feb. 5, 12 p.m. — Gospel concert performed by School of the Arts choir — Rochester City Hall, 30 Church St. Free and open to the public.
- Thursday, Feb. 6, 5:30 p.m. — An evening of art & jazz — Rochester City Hall, 30 Church St. Free and open to the public.
- Wednesday, Feb. 12, 12 p.m. — Gospel concert performed by Strings for Success — Rochester City Hall, 30 Church St. Free and open to the public.
- Friday, Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m. — Keynote address by Tracey Harrison, vice president of 1199SEIU, United Healthcare Workers East — Rochester City Hall, 30 Church St. Free and open to the public.
- Saturday, Feb. 22, 6 p.m. — Gospel concert performed by Akoma and Voices of Thunder — Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 351 Joseph Ave. Free and open to the public.
- Thursday, March 13, 5:30 p.m. — Black Heritage Youth Gala — Location TBD.
- Saturday, April 12, 5:30 p.m. — Black Heritage Gala — Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center, 123 E. Main St. — Tickets are $90 until Feb. 7, then $100. Purchase at Rochester City Hall, Room 100A, or online (with $7.88 service charge)
- Wednesday, June 18, 11 a.m. — Juneteenth Block Party — Austin Steward Plaza. Free and open to the public.
