The Second Baptist Church in Steubenville is spreading the word about their upcoming Juneteenth Festival, which will take place from Thursday, June 19th to Saturday, June 21st. The church will host a three-day event this year, featuring activities for kids, food, vendors, line dancing, an antique car show, a gospel day on Friday, and a parade on Thursday.

The parade will begin at Fort Steuben and finish at B-E-C, where the event will be held. Juneteenth was declared a national holiday in 2016, which is when the church began hosting their festival, and has held it ever since.

“This event is for the community for everyone to join in on this event. It is not just for Second Baptist church,” said April Latouche and June Bowden, Community Member and Trustee.

“In our parking lot we are going to block off the street, this is very family friendly,” said Rhonda Parrish, Clerk.

“Juneteenth starts on Thursday so we figured might as well have it Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and Sunday we are going to have church outside, said Jeffrey Stanford, Pastor of the Second Baptist Church. “We are going to have a car show and a parade, so we are looking to seeing everybody, anyone can come join this parade.”
