LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)- The Hanna Community Center is hosting the 5th annual Juneteenth celebration on Saturday at Columbian Park.
This will be a culturally enriching, and lively celebration of the history, achievements, and culture of Black Americans that will be at Columbian Park’s Memorial Island from 12–4pm.
Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.
There will be featured demonstrations of history, art, culture, live entertainment and food.
Expect to see performances from the community choir featuring Beyond Praize, an interactive themed fashion show and competition where the audience selects the winner.
All activities will be provided at no cost.
