(Gray News) – Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day.
It’s a holiday dedicated to encouraging people to register to vote.
The nonpartisan event is celebrated each September.
It started in 2012 and since then, its more than 5,000 partners have helped get more than 5 million people registered to vote.
As stated on the National Voter Registration Day website, according to U.S. Census data from 2020, as many as 1 in 4 eligible Americans are not registered to vote.
Partners say every year, millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register.
You can find information on how to register to vote or check your registration status in your state on the National Voter Registration Day website.
This year’s elections in the United States are scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
