Winnebago County offices, court closed in observance of Juneteenth

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) – Winnebago County offices and the 17th Circuit Court will be closed Wednesday, June 19, to commemorate Juneteenth.

The Winnebago County Board Office says, “Winnebago County is proud to celebrate the holiday this year as a way to recognize the achievements and contributions Black Americans have made and continue to make in Winnebago County and across our Nation.”

In observance of the federal holiday, the Governor’s Office has also ordered that U.S. and Illinois flags outside government entities be lowered to half-staff from Wednesday, June 19 until Thursday, June 20, 2024.
