DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Miss Juneteenth pageant is an opportunity for young ladies to showcase their talents, represent their community, and celebrate their heritage. The pageant is typically held in African American communities to celebrate Juneteenth. The pageants are like other beauty pageants, but they also emphasize on education and community service. Contestants are judged on their talent, poise, and character, and the winner is crowned Miss Juneteenth. Miss Juneteenth Pageant has been celebrated in the Quad Cities since 2018. Young ladies from the ages of 9-12 years old are judged in three categories, and the winner and her court are presented at the annual Juneteenth celebration.
This year, the event will take place at The TMBC Lincoln Center from 6pm through 8pm, doors open at 5:30pm.
