BEAUMONT, Texas — The City of Beaumont has announced that Midnight Star will replace The Gap Band as the headliner for this year’s Juneteenth celebration.
The change comes after The Gap Band canceled due to an ongoing legal trademark dispute affecting multiple performances nationwide according to a news release from the city of Beaumont.
Midnight Star, known for hits like “Midas Touch” and “No Parking on The Dance Floor”, will bring their R&B and funk sound to the event. The celebration will also feature cultural displays, music, and dance performances.
Food trucks will be set up on Main Street, offering a variety of options. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and picnic blankets to relax in the area between the Julie Rogers Theatre and the Main Library. A cooling tent will be available for relief from the heat.
Event rules include a ban on tents, canopies, and pets. Barbecue pits and other cooking equipment are not allowed unless used by pre-approved vendors. All vendors and booths must register in advance.
Admission is free and open to the public. The City of Beaumont thanks ExxonMobil, the event’s signature sponsor, as well as Del Papa Distributing (Stage Sponsor) and Giglio Distributing (Partner Sponsor) for their support.
The Juneteenth celebration aims to bring the community together to commemorate the historic event with music, food, and cultural activities.
