The Marshall-Harrison County Juneteenth Association recently kicked off the celebration of Black History Month with a “Fashioned for Freedom” style show, held in the Pemberton Auditorium of Wiley University.

The public was invited to come and join the committee for an unforgettable evening as the association celebrated culture, style, and creativity, showcasing unique fashions while honoring the heritage of African Americans.

Committee co-chair Don Ravenell brought his enthusiastic spirit, keeping the audience engaged as the host. Leatrice Gray returned by popular demand, putting a special spotlight on each model as the night’s commentator. Special guests will be the Price T. Young Fine Arts Academy’s dance team. Damyria Williams, Miss Juneteenth 2024-25, was amongst the models, who graced the stage.

A prayer was provided by Pastor Mae Carter. The program consisted of a “black and white” set, featuring an array of black and white cashions; a “dress to impress” segment, featuring show-stopping fashions, and “free style set,” showcasing an assortment of garments that highlighted each model’s personality and style.
