The fun for this year’s Juneteenth celebration in Bulloch County took place at Fair Road Park from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on Saturday, June 15. Children ran and giggled as they played on the inflatables. Friends gathered to enjoy barbecue and Big Dog snow cones. Families boarded the Book Bus empty-handed but left with bound treasures. These were just a few of the many activities this year’s Juneteenth Music and Food Festival offered.

Members of the City of David danced in front of the stage to the appreciation of onlookers. Numerous local vendors sold hand-made items and offered services to passersby, and there were several prizes and giveaways to enjoy.

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department was on hand for officers to mingle with attendees. Hard Knockz Entertainment provided the perfect musical backdrop as the crowds meandered past the booths and enjoyed the fellowship of familiar faces. Live performances by Luh Mic, Elite Diamonds of Statesboro, and TG Live electrified the audience and had everyone on their feet.

There was a Kids Zone, which had several bounce houses and inflatable slides, and face painting and games were available as well. There was plenty of food for every palate, with an ample selection of savory and sweet items to choose from. This family-friendly event enabled memories to be made.

This festive cultural event also brought the Juneteenth holiday to the minds and hearts of the residents of Bulloch County, just in time for its official commemoration on June 19.
