Harrisburg will mark the 2025 Juneteenth holiday with a parade for the first time.

The Juneteenth parade will be in collaboration with the sixth annual Juneteenth celebration for the city.

The parade will invite “local businesses, organizations, performers, and residents to march in honor of Black freedom, culture and excellence,” according to a news release.

The parade will begin at noon June 14, starting at the Capitol Complex.

Businesses that wish to participate may sign up for a $100 entry fee; nonprofit organizations may participate for free with a waiver code.

Groups looking for a waiver code or more information can send an email to JuneteenthHBGparade@gmail.com. Signup info and more details can be found here.

Juneteenth, a federal holiday on June 19, marks the day when the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation.
