“You must never be afraid to be yourself,” said Ivy David, while performing a Rosa Parks poem that spoke to her actions’ enduring legacy today.
David was the first place winner of 2024 Black Heritage Festival’s Oration Competition at the Anniston Museums in her age division. Her performance began Hobson City’s Juneteenth celebration June 29 in Striplin Park.
