SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Juneteenth was Wednesday, but the celebration continued Saturday in South Bend.
The South Bend Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo held a Juneteenth Celebration at LaSalle Park.
The event was packed, as cars lined up the street. There was a live DJ and dozens of different food trucks, along with over 50 different types of vendors.
South Bend Chapter President Latorya Greene said she was excited for the community to come together and celebrate.
“We are here with a number of food vendors, information, and merchandise vendors, really supporting a lot of local Black businesses as well too,” Greene said. “And so, local artists that we have as well, selling some great items, some great food. Definitely from anything that you need from clothing to oils, to healthcare products, they are definitely out here.”
Greene says it took about six months to plan and prepare this event.
