The daylong festival has celebrated freedom and unity for 34 years, organizers said. The event featured a gospel concert and jazz, R&B and other music, along with live performances, art displays and treats from food vendors.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom. It came more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863. The day marks the formal end of slavery after the Civil War.
