FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – On Saturday, Juneteenth events were held at three of Fort Wayne’s parks.
From 1-5 p.m., Juneteenth Fort Wayne held ‘The Real Juneteenth’ at Kettler Park, inviting community members to a free event with local Black vendors, food, activities, resources, and live music.

The Macknificient Freedom Fest was held from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with events at both Weisser and McMillen Parks. A ‘Keepers of the Light’ ceremony was held at 10 a.m. and ‘Arts Leadership Center’ promenade at 11:30 a.m. in Weisser Park. Starting at 1:30 p.m., Macknificient Freedom Fest’s events shifted to McMillen Park where there were local Black vendors, food, activities, resources, and live entertainment.
Both events happen ahead of the Juneteenth holiday which is on Wednesday, June 19.
