Lumberton reopens long-closed park as part of Juneteenth celebration

LUMBERTON, Miss. (WDAM) – An old park in Lumberton is open to the public once again, thanks to special celebration.

The city officially reopened the Fifth Avenue Park Saturday during its Juneteenth event.

The park had been closed for nearly 20 years.

Saturday, the park played host to games and vendors as well as a dedication to a Lumberton legend, baseball player Tommy Dukes Sr.
