WEST HARTFORD, CT — One of Connecticut’s largest Juneteenth Holiday celebrations is in West Hartford, but community leaders say they need help to pull it off this year.
This June 14, the West Hartford community will come together to commemorate Juneteenth — a day marking the end of slavery in the United States and celebrating African American freedom, achievement, and contributions.’
The actual holiday is always June 19, but West Hartford is celebrating a few days early this year.
The event usually draws a large crowd to West Hartford Town Hall, and the event is seen as one of the biggest Juneteenth celebrations in the state.
“Our celebration is more than just a gathering; it’s a vibrant showcase of culture, resilience, and unity,” wrote event organizers in an announcement.
To bring the free event to West Hartford, however, some help from folks is needed.
